Random Summer Fun

Urgent Care and the ER all in 1 day

Hailey attended a church youth activity where they had a giant slip-n-slide. One of the times she slid down, she hurt her wrist. The next morning it looked swollen and hurt to move so we figured we should probably have it looked at. I took her to Urgent Care to have it x-rayed. Luckily nothing was broken - it was just a sprain.

Then that night Evan was walking into the kitchen and got wiped out by a overly excited, 86 pound, uncoordinated puppy. Evan landed on the back of his head on the tile floor. He was screaming! And he instantly got a huge "goose egg" on the back of his head. We thought it would be best to have him checked out so off to the ER we went.

They never did anything to him. Since he hadn't thrown up or lost consciousness they didn't want to expose him to the radiation from a CT or MRI . They just had us sit in the waiting room for 2 hours to see if he ever threw up or lost consciousness, which he didn't do either. He got a note to get out of PE for a week and then he was good to go. Never a dull moment around here!

I came downstairs to find this boy just relaxing and watching some TV

One beautiful sunset

TOFW
(Time Out For Women)

Every year we have the opportunity to attend an event in Sacramento where we get to hear from some amazing speakers and hear some amazing artists.  This year David Archuleta was one of the performers. It was pretty cool to see him perform.

Normally, after the show you can meet any of the speakers or artists and get their autographs. This year with David it was different. You had to buy one of his CD's in order to get his autograph. Also, only 1 person per CD was allowed to go into the room to see him. I purchased a CD so Hailey could meet David. Her friends also got CDs - they were all so excited to meet him.

Some pretty stoked girls!

Labor Day Tahoe Cabin Trip

September - For Labor Day we rented a cabin in Tahoe with 4 other families. We had 10 adults and 17 kids - it was a party!

We spent one day at Kings Beach on Lake Tahoe.

Evan loved, loved, LOVED the kayaks. We couldn't get the boy out of it! We made him share with the other kids and every time we looked out, he was back in the boat!

We rented 2 paddle boats. Here are the girls:

4 of the dads decided to go out in one of the paddle boats. They may have been over the weight limit as they kept taking on water from any little wave. Kurt came back soaked!

Kurt and Trevor

There must have been something really interesting in that hole!

Team effort to dig a hole.

Hanging out and chatting on the beach.

On Saturday night, Kurt and I drove all the way back home to attend the wedding of our employee's daughter. It was a beautiful wedding!

And then we drove all the way back to the cabin that night. We were tired!

The next day we went for a hike. I can't remember what it was called but it was above Donner Lake.

Here is our group:

Hiking in:

There was some pretty interesting graffiti along the way.

There were abandoned train tunnels that we got to walk through. Pretty awesome!

It was an amazing trail and it was very fun to hike through the tunnels.

Back at the cabin, there was lots of games played.

There was a zip line outside the cabin that the kids loved!

What a great weekend!

An Adorable Little Pirate!

August - We attended our nephew's birthday party and it was a pirate theme. Each kid got to take home some adorable pirate gear.

Someone LOVED his pirate attire.

The next morning when I asked Trevor to get ready for church, this is how he came into the kitchen:

Can he get any cuter???

At least it matched his church clothes.

Last Day of Freedom & First Day of School

August - On Trevor's last day of freedom before he officially joined the school world, I took him out to celebrate. He loves Nuyo so off we went, just me and my kinder boy.

First day of school:

Evan starting 5th grade

 T in kindergarten

And somehow I missed a picture of Hailey 😢

Our very last first day of kindergarten and there were NO TEARS! Not from T and not from mom!!! So proud of our little man!

T is sitting up front, to the left of the girl with the white bow.

And, of course, the boys decided they needed an after-school treat so back to Nuyo we went and we had some friends join us.

It was a great first day of school!

Catching up once again

Ready for another round of playing catch up?

I was determined to stay on top of this blog the last time I played catch up but fell behind pretty much instantly. Sheesh.

Anyways, I will be catching up once again. So here we go again . . .
